SUMMARY:The “Hungry Club" at Big Mama’s Kitchen
DESCRIPTION:Our May 7th guest speaker is Ms. JoAnna Leflore-Ejike\, Executive Director of the Malcolm X Memorial Foundation. \nPrior to accepting this position\, she worked for Film Streams\, Mode Shift Omaha\, the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts\, the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce and was assistant editor at The Reader newspaper for nearly two years. A communications\, community engagement and events manager with degrees from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Bellevue University\, LeFlore-Ejike is a self-described “creative” from a family of entrepreneurs who manage their own businesses. JoAnna LeFlore-Ejike played a key role in Malcolm X’s induction into the Nebraska Hall of Fame. JoAnna was named one of USA TODAY’s Women of the Year in February 2025. \nThe Hungry Club meets the 1st Wednesday of every month over the lunch hour. We bring in local\, regional and national speakers with information that is relevant to north Omaha and the entire Omaha Metro area. Being that it is an intimate environment it allows the lunch attendees to ask questions and have a good discussion with the guest speaker. The Hungry Club is moderated by Ms. Gladys Harrison. \nThe Hungry Club is open to the public\, everyone is welcome.
